Its due to this fact that people opt for a simpler solution, like ready made meals, reheating leftovers from the refrigerator and [...]]]> For professional’s and those who are busy all day long, the stress of coming home after a hard days work and having to prepare a large dinner from the start can be exhausting. Its due to this fact that people opt for a simpler solution, like ready made meals, reheating leftovers from the refrigerator and of course microwave dinners. All of which are simple and you will have a meal in a few minutes. However though, due to the radiation from microwaves, you have to wonder is microwave cooking safe?

Most people have microwaves inside their home, its a part of everyday life to just heat up a meal quickly or re-heat your tea or coffee, no one ever truly wonders is microwave cooking safe, until now. Microwaves are actually produced inside an oven by a tube which is named a magnetron. If you are wondering what goes on between the microwave and your food its basically like this, the microwave causes the water in food to vibrate, this therefore produces heat that cooks the food. Since all food contains water, even if its just a tiny amount the microwave works from that.

Microwaves do not contaminate foods, nor make them have radioactive qualities of any kind. Is Microwave cooking safe then you have to wonder. In terms of saving energy, if you where to cook a meal from the start or simply prepare it in the microwave, the better alternative is the latter, the food cooks faster and you are using a lot less energy. There are a lot of rumors that when you cook food in the microwave you loose some of the nutritional value. This is false, in actual fact you may even gain more vitamins and minerals as you are cooking the food quicker and not adding anything extra.

Is microwave cooking safe? The facts speak for themselves, in term of the energy inside a microwave, it is similar to heat energy. The food you are preparing inside your microwave actually cooks from the outside, and rarely travels deeply into meats and other large foods. It usually penetrates 1.5 inches or so into meats. Its because of this it may take some time to get your food warm enough for consumption. You have to make sure your microwave is cleaned out constantly, especially if you use it frequently for different foods and meats, bacteria can quickly stock up so clean regularly inside and out.

The end result on the question is microwave cooking safe, is, yes, its a convenient, simple way to prepare your meal at the end of a long day, or to re-heat leftovers. You use less energy, you spend less time waiting to eat and as long as you carefully monitor the different temperatures and prepare food in the correct manner then you will have no problems. Just try and avoid really thick meats like steak, these are better left to the oven or grill.
